Pilates
10 classes you feel different
20 classes you look different
30 classes to a new body!
Pilates is an exercise system devised by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s.
Originally designed for dancers, the technique is great for everyone.
Medical research has found that the Pilates technique is beneficial to
those with back problems and posture problems.
A Pilates class does not involve aerobic movement. It is a gentle form
of exercise, but requires concentration and subtle movements.
The key in Pilates is to stabilise the "core", or tummy/back
muscles so that the body is stable. This helps to keep the body strong
and straight, while relaxed. Pilates increases the student's body awareness.
Pilates has recently received great interest in the Irish media of late.
The method is used by athletes, including professional rugby and football
players, the Irish Olympic Swimming Team as well as many other sports
men and women.
Lyn trained in the BodyFirm Studio Dublin and is affiliated with Pilates
Method Alliance.
